The City of Millbrae approved the cameras based on a report that stated 1,060 Red Light violations were taking place PER DAY, during a 4 HOUR PERIOD. 3-7PM

Thats 265 Red Light Violations per HOUR.

The cameras during an ENTIRE MONTH of 24 hour operation were only able to see 106 violations.

Where is the GUY who saw 1,060?

Tommy,

The 106 tickets were issued for the entire month.

The City Report which caused the Millbrae City Counsel to approve this $354,000.00 annual expense stated there were 1060 Red Light Violations per 4 hours of a day that equals 31,800 RLV per month.

Lets give them an 80% Failure to Identify Rate.

That would still give you 636 RLV per month...not 106

Last year each red light ticket carried a fine of $271.00 which was raised to $385.00 this year. That is an increase of 42%
Who authorizes this fine increase?

Not one Millbrae City Counsel member questioned this report, nor did any Millbrae Police official.

Oh well. Don't run red lights in Millbrae.

In fact, don't run red lights anywhere.

In all this discussion about what the reason is for them doing it (safety or money), the bottom line is that it might make it a little safer to drive around.

Dear D.Dog

We agree running Red Lights is a Bad Thing.

The discussion here is not about saftey or money. Its about one or more persons willfully and knowingly preparing and presenting a false report to the City of Millbrae Council. That report stating during an average day in February
1060 red light violations per 4 hour period...3-7PM.

Then the question is, did anyone read this report?

Looks like no is the answer.

Was Redflex Corporation considered for this work? They are experts in this field, and it just happens they are also from Arizona.

Local politics and governance in San Mateo County has very little to do with the facts. It is all about agendas and getting those agendas pushed through. Facts that don't agree with these agendas are tossed aside.
