Amazingly, one of the worst racially motivted serial killings in America is known to so few Americans. The killings are called the Zebra Killings.

Recently retired San Francisco African American Chief of Police Prentice Earl Sanders published a book about the crimes, titled Zebra Murders.

Each year for the past Ten years we have held a Zebra Victims Memorial Service on the steps of San Francisco's City Hall. This year it is to be held on Friday October 20th at 12:00 Noon. In previous years, neither the Mayor or a member of the Board of Supervisors would acknowledge the crimes, no less attend or send a representative.

This year Supervisors Micela Alioto-Pier and African American Sophia Maxwell have helped us with the Memorial Service.

On October 20, 1973 Quita (Pirelli-Minetti) Hague and her husband were abducted from Chestnust and Powell Sts., in San Francisco, driven to a remote area by the railroad tracks where she was literally hacked to death. Unbelievably, her husband Richard survived the attack. There were a total of 15 murdered and 23 attacked.

Victims should not be forgotten, as though they've committed some unforgivable act by merely being innocent victims. That is how the City of San Francisco has treated them. That must stop. Louis Calabro

Look, Louis, you are simply not going to get much sympathy from the governance in San Francisco. Period. And you know that. And you know why.

But what's this Euro-American thing? You are either from Europe or America. I'm Italian-French by parentage yet I have virtually nothing in common with those who have lived their lives in those Countries. I have as much in common with Europe as a Dalmatian has with a wolf.

I get a bit suspicious of people's motives when I see this heritage baloney tossed about. As a child I grew up in a fairly rough section of Chicago. I can tell you this, it wasn't Paris. This is my Country, my land. Not Europe.

I've traveled most of Europe. Nice places to be sure. But I never felt a kinship there. Paris is effete snobbery, Rome is a tourist trap, the Greeks have no time for Americans, and Spain the same. England was a tad better but London is a mess.

I will give you this. Someone who was born and raised in a European Country can use the term Euro-American if they like. Otherwise it means nothing.

What do the Zebra killings have to do with Europe or Euro-American.

In 1998 the California State Assembly and Senate unanimously adopted a Joint Resolution recognizing the 188 million European Americans in the US and California and declaring October as European American Heritage Month.

Since then the California State Board of Educations, Stockton Unified School District, the Governor of Arizona and seven cities in San Mateo County have adopted a European American Heritage Month.

Please understand that in the USA, anyone is entitled to self identify. If you do not want to be identified as a European American that is your business and we respect it. We ask that you respect our desire to be identified as European Americans.

The victims in the Zebra case were all European Americans, in our view.

The tragedy is that the entire communications media, radio, TV, Magazines and Newspapers have effectively denied that over 15 European Americans were murdered for racially motivated reasons by refusing to cover the Zebra Victims Memorial Services that are held each year.

John Gotti was a Euro-American. Was he also recognized for his immense contributions to the American scene? How far do you want to go with this non-sense.

The victims were white. Killed by blacks for racist inspired notions. A true hate crime. Would it have been any different if they were white South Americans? Or White Canadian-Americans? Introducing the Euro part is simply poppy cock. I bet you none of these victims were not anything more than american born citizens.

In light of Tacoma, Washington based Theodore Bundy's connection to Canada College in Redwood City, and Stanford, where he studied prelaw, as well as the east coast creep up from Florida, to Georgia where also Tacoma, Washington based Beltway Snipers continued to carry up from Georgia on up to Washington, D.C., yet no mention has ever been drawn to Tacoma, by a single former cop turned crime journalist?
