So what's worse? Being a Raiders or Stanford football fan? I'm almost ashamed of being associated with the Bay Area because its college and professional sports teams have become jokes. The A's? Sure, they're in the <a href=http://www.baseball-reference.com/postseason/" TARGET=BLANK>playoffs, but they're going to flame out out again in the first round. I'm sure they'll go up 2-0 and find a way to blow it. The Giants? Someone should just blow up that entire organization. It all starts at the top, and owner Peter Magowan should get roasted for being a cheapskate. The 49ers and Raiders? They're no closer to making the Super Bowl than I am to winning the lottery. How about the Warriors and Sharks? Both teams are entertaining, but I don't see Baron Davis hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy or Vesa Toskala doing likewise with the Stanley Cup. What's there to look forward to? Frankly, not much.

Man, just hang in there. Its not like the old days of glory but at least we have sports teams that we can follow. Just imagine if you lived in Stockton or Modesto, im sure you would be glad to have a half-ass team as oppose to no team. Cheer up man, we can only go up from here.

So are the A's going to flame out simply for the convenience of your argument, or do you have something substantive behind that statement?

You got the 2-0 part right, but I think we're going to see an Oakland / New York rematch this year, this time with Gumby in pinstripes where his disappearing act in the clutch will actually help the A's this time around.

I guess their past historical performance is pretty "substantive."

Different manager at the healm. Zito's the only third of the Big Three left. Choke-Hall-of-Fame inductees Tejada and Gumby out in the AL East. Have some faith! Remember, the team they're playing has experienced a similarly spectacular flameout in recent years...also against the Yanks.

Gumby is no worry. Watch out for A-Rod. He is due.

You mean I-Rod?

Methinks A-Rod is about to start his off-season tanning program.

I'm reading in the Chicago papers that Pinella wants to bring A-Rod to the Cubs. That's like inviting Mark Karr to your kids' birthday party. Just a bad idea.

Alright, the A's collapsed again. At least they made it past the ALDS before they pulled their disappearing act.
