Diekroeger extends hit streak to 18
August 25, 2014, 05:00 AM Daily Journal Staff Report

Danny Diekroeger upped his current minor league hitting streak to 18 games Sunday to tie a State College record.

Currently on a roll for St. Louis Cardinals Short-Season affiliate State College, Diekroeger — a former Menlo School and Stanford standout — tabbed a first-inning triple at Pirates affiliate Jamestown to extend a hitting streak which began on Aug. 2. It was a fitting opponent, as Diekroeger tied Brian Friday’s State College record 18-game hitting streak of 2007, when the team was an affiliate of the Pirates.

Throughout the hitting streak, Diekroeger is hitting .316 (25 for 79) and went 5 for 15 through the weekend three-game series in Jamestown. He is currently hitting .285 on the season with four triples, tying him for eighth place in the New York-Penn League in the category.

Daily Journal Quick Poll

Now that the Giants have won three World Series titles in five years, would you say they are a dynasty?

Absolutely, yes
I would think so
Maybe one more would make them a dynasty
I don't like the word dynasty
Madison Bumgarner is a dynasty!
