Letter: Presidents Day alternative

There is a new movement to ignore the celebration of “Presidents Day” on Feb. 20, 2017, and renew celebrations of Abraham Lincoln’s birthday Feb. 12 and George Washington’s Birthday Feb. 22. To recognize and celebrate the lives of two of America’s most cherished and accomplished presidents is indeed worthy. School children will enjoy classroom discussions regarding both Lincoln and Washington. Those interested may choose to wear black arm bands Jan. 20 (Inauguration Day) and Feb. 20 (Presidents Day) in 2017.
