Letter: Symphatize with the Israelis as well
July 29, 2014, 05:00 AM Letter

Editor,

Israel and the United States believe that every life is valuable, and every death is tragic. It is a terrible shame that Hamas glorifies death. In her letter in the July 23 edition of the Daily Journal, “The universal, priceless value of blood,” Samia Shoman has great sympathy for the civilian casualties of the Hamas war, and prays for the people of Gaza. She did not express any corresponding sympathy for the Israeli casualties or prayers for the people of Israel. Hamas started the war by its firing of rockets into Israel from Gaza. Israel accepted a cease-fire and Hamas did not. Israel was reluctant to have the IDF enter Gaza, but had to do it. Now, Israel has to complete the destruction of the vast network of tunnels in Gaza, which are meant to have terrorists infiltrate into Israel. The best comparison is the rocket bombing of London by the Nazis, and England and the United States fought the war until Germany unconditionally surrendered.

Daily Journal Quick Poll

What do you think of the new net neutrality rules imposed by the FCC on broadband providers?

Agree, Internet access should be governed like a utility
Don't agree, it will limit the free market
Worry about taxes
Worry it will prevent further access
It's too complicated
