Letter: I oppose the proposal to attack Syria
September 06, 2013, 05:00 AM Letter

Editor,

In the Sept. 3 edition of the Daily Journal, Scott Abramson’s letter to the editor “Who are the Syrian anti-war protesters?” implies that all those who oppose Obama’s proposed insane attack on Syria are marching “in lockstep with ... human exterminators.”

I oppose this attack on Syria because it is militarily stupid.

I oppose this attack on Syria because I remember 9/11.

Let’s focus on reality here. Al-Qaida committed 9/11. Al-Qaida are the bad guys.

Every rational war game scenario based on actual facts on the ground shows that al-Qaida in Syria would be strengthened after any attack we make there. The bigger our attack, the more al-Qaida (who are by far the most battle-hardened and shrewd battlefield warriors among the opposition) benefits.

I oppose this proposed attack because I despise al-Qaida.

I oppose this attack because I remember 9/11.

Remember 9/11!
