Craig Brian Mackellar
February 17, 2017, 05:00 AM

Craig Brian Mackellar, born Aug. 11, 1957, died peacefully Jan. 23, 2017.

Craig was born in Torrance, California. At the age of 7, his family moved to the San Francisco Peninsula where he graduated from Menlo-Atherton High School in 1975. Afterwards, he worked in the Palo Alto Parks Department for a couple of years and donated his time to the YMCA and church. He is survived by his sister Dale, brothers Scott and Rory, niece Shannon MacKellar, nephews Brock MacKellar and Richard and Robert Franklin.

“For over 25 years, Craig was a bit of a fixture around downtown San Carlos. Most people at some time saw him on his daily walks to the San Carlos Library. He made quite a few good friends along the way. He was one of the nicest, most gentle people I knew. Always interested in how other were doing, welcoming a good conversation with his unique sense of humor. One of our standing jokes was, when I asked him when the day came if he wanted to be buried or cremated? He never wavered and always said he wanted to be pickled. I know he’s smiling now.

“Craig will be greatly missed.”
