California shivers amid record freezing temperatures

Freeze watches are in place throughout much of the state as cold, dry air moves through, toppling temperature records.

Freezes will through early Monday in the Sacramento and San Joaquin valleys and from north of the San Francisco Bay to south along the Central Coast, the National Weather Service said.
