Groundbreaking for Cañada College solar panel project April 10
March 27, 2014, 05:00 AM

The San Mateo County Community College District is holding a groundbreaking ceremony for a new solar project at Cañada College on 10 a.m. April 10 at the college.

This is the first renewable energy project undertaken by the district. The $4.5 million project is expected to cut the school’s energy costs of nearly $600,000 by about half.

The brief groundbreaking ceremony will include district personnel and industry partners using ceremonial shovels to turn dirt at the site. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held upon completion of the project sometime this summer.
