Jewelry salesman robbed of gems at gunpoint
March 03, 2014, 05:00 AM Bay City News Service

SAN CARLOS — A jewelry salesman was robbed of gems in San Carlos at gunpoint on Friday evening, San Mateo County sheriff’s deputies said.

Deputies said the armed robbery occurred at about 5:55 p.m. in front of Geoffrey’s Diamonds and Goldsmith located at 626 Walnut St., about two blocks from the San Carlos Caltrain station.

The victim, a 43-year-old jewelry salesman had arrived at the store in possession of a case of gems. While he was crossing the street, at least one masked suspect confronted him and brandished a silver semi-automatic pistol, deputies said.

The suspect demanded the victim’s case containing the jewels. The suspect grabbed the case and fled toward three other masked suspects waiting inside a newer model, silver Honda Pilot with paper plates, according to deputies.

The suspect vehicle headed south on Walnut Street and has not been located, deputies said.

Anyone who may have any information about the armed robbery or can help identify the suspects is asked to contact deputies at (650) 363-4064 or the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office anonymous tip line at (800) 547-2700.
