Half Moon Bay man charged with thousands of child porn images
February 07, 2014, 05:00 AM Daily Journal Staff Report

Christopher O’Donnell

A Half Moon Bay man nabbed by the FBI for allegedly posting on an online site about child pornography had binders and a computer containing thousands of images and 200 videos, according to prosecutors.

Christopher Mordaunt O’Donnell, 70, has pleaded not guilty to possessing the child pornography. Despite allegedly having many images, authorities can only legally charge him with one count per reported incident which, in his case, dates back to July 13, 2012. O’Donnell was to learn Monday if he’ll stand trial but the preliminary hearing was pushed back to April 2.

The FBI came across O’Donnell online and through search warrants determined he was accessing the message board from his Half Moon Bay home Internet service, according to the District Attorney’s Office.

A search of his home reportedly turned up binders of child pornography and a forensic search of his computer allegedly revealed more than 2,500 illegal images and 200 videos.

O’Donnell remains in custody on $200,000 bail and returns to court March 19 for a Superior Court review conference prior to his preliminary hearing.

Daily Journal Quick Poll

What do you think of the recent White House decision to change the name of Alaska's Mt. McKinley to Denali?

It's good to go back to what most people in Alaska call it
Never thought about it
We should keep the name McKinley
It's OK, but would be nice to find a different way to honor McKinley
How about keeping both names?
