January 28, 2014, 05:00 AM

Three people were arrested during a DUI saturation patrol in San Mateo County on Friday night, according to Burlingame police.

The patrol took place between 6 p.m. Friday and 2 a.m. Saturday by units from the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office and San Bruno and Burlingame Police Departments.

A total of 54 vehicles were stopped and screened while nine drivers underwent field sobriety tests, police said.

Three drivers were arrested for driving under the influence and one was cited for driving with a suspended license, police said.

The county’s DUI saturation patrols are part of an ongoing effort to improve traffic safety, police said.
