Two pedestrians struck on same California highway
November 30, 2013, 05:00 AM The Associated Press

The California Highway Patrol says two pedestrians were killed in separate incidents hours apart on the same San Francisco Bay Area highway.

The first incident on Interstate 80 occurred around 12:30 a.m. Friday in Richmond, when a motorist who crashed his car was struck by multiple vehicles as he tried to cross the westbound lanes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

CHP Officer James Evans says a woman was struck by a truck about five hours later while crossing I-80 in San Francisco’s South of Market neighborhood. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

Evans said it’s not clear what she was doing on the highway.

Neither victim has been identified.
