August 26, 2013, 05:00 AM Bay City News Service

Two people died this evening when their SUV plunged 100 feet off of Interstate 280 outside of Burlingame, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The crash was reported at 5:21 p.m. on northbound Interstate 280 near Trousdale Drive.

A white SUV’s two occupants were trapped when the vehicle flew through a guard rail and down a 100-foot drop, the CHP said.

They were pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP is investigating what caused the crash.
