City government

• The Redwood City Planning Commission will consider a comprehensive 2013 zoning ordinance amendment changing a high-density residential area to mixed-use neighborhood to accommodate emergency shelters and transitional housing as now required by housing element law.

The Planning Commission meets 7 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5 at City Hall, 1017 Middlefield Road, Redwood City.

Education

• The San Mateo Union High School District Board of Trustees will hold a special meeting to discuss enrollment issues.

The conversation will include ways to allow more freedom of campus choice within the districts.

The board will meet 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 7 at the Adult School, 789 E. Poplar Ave., San Mateo.
