Taft Community School, an elementary school serving Redwood City residents celebrates it Fifth Annual Community Fair with food, games and local agencies from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3 at 903 10th Ave. in Redwood City.
The celebration will feature Taft students and local performers, delicious home cooked meals, six inflatable games, the opportunity to learn about community resources, a booth decorating contest, raffles and good, clean fun for the entire family.
The event is open to the public, but friends, family, alumni and the surrounding area are particularly encouraged to attend. For more information call 369-2589.

This Sunday marks the sixth annual Save the Music Festival for the Belmont-Redwood Shores Elementary School District, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Twin Peaks Park in Belmont. Local talent will be center stage to raise money for the music program.
This year, the Oracle Main Stage will host a wide range of professional musicians. Steel drums, rock, R&B, pop, folk and jazz performers ensure something for everyone. Local youth talent will be featured by the Wells Fargo Community Stage.
Kids will be inspired at the See’s Candies Children’s Stage, which features the Belmont-Redwood Shores fourth grade Recorder Band, Carlmont High School Drum Line and fun children’s performers.
In addition to great music, there will be local gourmet food and a Children’s Fun Zone filled with exciting games. Of course, music is the theme at this party so be sure to stop by the famous “Musical Instrument Petting Zoo” for an interactive music experience.
The festival is sponsored by the School-Force Education Foundation. A $5 suggested donation, $2 for children and senior, is encouraged for admission. Free parking is available at the Belmont train station and Notre Dame High School/University.

This week, Notre Dame Elementary School students held a Pet Supply Drive in honor of St. Francis of Assisi’s Feast Day. Notre Dame students will be collecting items to donate to the Peninsula Humane Society. The most needed items are blankets or towels, new or clean collars or leashes and canned tuna. Shoe boxes without the covers, bird/cat/dog toys and paper towels are also needed. Visit http://www.peninsulahumanesociety.org/donate/wishlist.html for more ideas for donations. Many are common household items and can be in used condition.

A New York cast will be presenting a special preview of “Lost and Found: A New Musical” — a production written and directed by Menlo-Atherton High School alumnus Darin Adams. A story of broken lives transformed by hope and love, the production features a score of gospel, R&B, hip hop and contemporary music. Held 7 p.m. Oct. 9 p.m. in the restored, 817-seat Carrington Hall theater on the Sequoia High School campus. Proceeds benefit local schools through the Serve the Peninsula Foundation. Baywood Elementary School is hosting the “Vintage Baywood Holiday Boutique,” 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 4. There will be five Peninsula gift stores and a dozen boutique artisans filling a home, located at 320 Parrott Drive in San Mateo, with gifts products for this festive fundraising event. You’ll find ornaments, hostess gifts, kids gifts, hand-crafted novelties, gourmet edibles and vintage decor. Twenty-five percent of all sales go to the Baywood PTA to support school programs.
