Judge orders Josh Wolf released
April 03, 2007, 12:00 AM Bay City News
A federal judge in San Francisco today ordered jailed freelance journalist Josh Wolf released from a federal prison in Dublin by 5 p.m.

U.S. District Judge William Alsup also vacated his Aug. 1 finding that Wolf was in contempt of court. The judge said Wolf had purged himself of contempt of court by providing "all of the audio and video materials in his possession" regarding a demonstration in San Francisco in 2005.

Wolf, 24, has been in prison for more than seven months, longer than any other reporter in U.S. history in a civil contempt of court case.

A resolution of the case was revealed in court filings by federal prosecutors and Wolf's attorneys this morning.

Under the resolution, Wolf released a full copy of a videotape he made of the demonstration and answered two questions posed by prosecutors, but will not have to appear before a grand jury for possible questioning about participants in the demonstration.
