Nadia Holober is leading the way in raising funds in her bid to rejoin the Millbrae City Council, according to campaign financial documents released Friday.
Holober, who was termed out two years ago, is attempting to rejoin the council. Against her is Councilwoman Gina Papan and Planning Commissioner Lorrie Kalos-Gunn. Mayor Robert Gottschalk is termed out this year, prohibiting him for running for re-election. Campaign finance forms turned in by each candidate Thursday revealed Holober with the largest campaign chest with $13,194 in donations, followed by Papan with $5,243, then Kalos-Gunn who gathered $2,649.
Holober received $250 from the Operating Engineers Local 3; $300 from retired sheriff Don Horsley; $100 from TT Lee Corporation; $100 from Teamsters $#853 Political Activities Committee; $400 from Sheet Metal Workers Local 104 Political Action Committee; $100 from Dave Mandelkern, San Mateo County Community College District trustee; $1,000 from Millbrae Paradise LLC; $250 from the Pomas Advertising Co.; and $250 from the Sprinkler Fitters and Apprentices Local 483 Political Action Committee.
Thus far, Holober spent $3,048.46 on campaign literature and filing fees.
Papan was given $1,000 from Plumbers and Steamfitters #467; $250 from San Mateo County Building and Construction; $150 from former Burlingame councilman Joe Galligan; $100 from Dave Pine, San Mateo Union High School District trustee; $150 from San Mateo Building Trades during this period but $400 during this calendar year; $150 from the San Mateo County Firefighters; and $300 from the San Mateo Labor Council. Papan received $600 in nonmonetary support from Broadway Grill in Burlingame for a fundraiser.
Thus far, Papan spent $908.50 on filing fees and fundraiser.
Kalos-Gunn raised $2,649, $2,500 of which was from a self-loan. Thus far, she spent $1,231.57 on postage, voter registration, campaign literature and envelopes.
