The Daily Journal is published six days a week, Monday through Friday plus a combo Weekend edition. The newspaper is distributed throughout San Mateo County and northern Santa Clara County, and all over the world on the internet.

It is the mission of the Daily Journal to be the most accurate, fair and relevant local news source for those who live, work or play on the Mid-Peninsula. By combining local news coverage, analysis and insight with the latest business, lifestyle, state, national and world news, we seek to provide our readers with the highest quality information resource in the local area. Letters to the Editor should be no longer that 250 words. Perspective columns should be no longer than 750 words. Illegibly written and anonymous letters will not be accepted. Please include a daytime phone number where we can reach you.

The Daily Journal is a newspaper of general circulation in San Mateo County and is adjudicated to publish legal and public notices. We publish Fictitious Business Name Statements (DBA's), Name Changes, Trustee Sales, Alcohol and Beverage License, Probates, Adoption Notices, Bulk Sale Notice and much more. Our legal notices can be placed for the cities of Atherton, Belmont, Brisbane, Burlingame, Foster City, Half Moon Bay, Hillsborough, Menlo Park, Millbrae, Pacifica, Redwood City, San Bruno, San Carlos, San Mateo, South San Francisco, and Woodside. For Fictitious Business Name Statements (DBA's), we charge $42 for one business name and one owner name. Each additional name is $8. As a public service, the Daily Journal prints obituaries of 200 words or less with a photo one time on a space available basis. To submit obituaries, email information along with a jpeg photo to news [at] smdailyjournal.com. Free obituaries are edited for style, clarity, length and grammar. If you would like to have an obituary printed on a specific date, or more than once, or longer than 200 words or without editing, please submit an inquiry to our advertising department: ads [at] smdailyjournal.com
